Currently using Storm2 on CDMA EV1X and 1X service. Soon to have HSPA(3G) in area. I am wondering if I unlock my Sim Card using the mepd method, once unlocked would the CDMA settings still work?

Storm2 will not function on HSPA/3G once unlocked, only on CDMA and Edge so there isn't much point in unlocking.

Unlocking will do you good, but only if you plan to use it on GSM networks. Then another carrier's SIM can be used, but only on EDGE for data, no 3G. But CDMA will always remain for your specific carrier.

The point is that GSM 3G won't work in North America with the Storm, since the GSM providers in North America use different frequencies for their 3G than what is used in Europe and other parts of the world. The Storm is designed to only use the latter bands for 3G GSM, so you are stuck with EDGE in North America.

But as has been pointed out, this does not effect CDMA 3G.
