I am buying a BB Storm 9530 locally, but its locked. I have a cousin who is a Verizon customer so she will call for me to get the unlock code. Once I do that, will the phone work seamlessly with TMobile or will I need to do anything? For now it will only be used as a phone and for sms messages, dont need email or internet. Also will use the other functions of the phone (media) but I dont think the network will effect that at all..

    thanks

Do a couple of searches and you'll find your answers. It's quite simple and mine works flawlessly. You will have to buy the service books to make everything work perfect.

There is someone on here who has a program you can use to unlock the storm without having to go through the hassle of verizon.

It's more of a hassle to find that person than it is to get the unlock code for free from verizon since he has the access...

I have T-Mobile and just got my storm unlocked today. Everything works great except for the internet icon isn't showing anywhere and I can't get the internet to work at all... Is that what you have to buy the service books for? And where can you find those books at?

As extremeconcepts said, you should probably read -

HowTo:Get All Features (Browser, MMS) Working on T-Mobile w/Unlocked Storm 95xx

I think you will find your answers there. Good luck.

I used HowTo:Get All Features (Browser, MMS) Working on T-Mobile w/Unlocked Storm 95xx today with no issues. Got my Storm unlocked on Friday, got the BB plan from Tmobile this morning, and used PlTaylor link to get the service books. Everything is working fine. Was going to go with the 8900, but I just love the big screen on the Storm too much.

3G on GSM in the US doesnt work. only edge. the device isnt capable of receiving the carriers 3G signal so only edge on the unlocked storm.
