    Just makes it so you can use it on at&t or t-mobile. If you travel out of the country you can use local pre pay sim cards and avoid the Verizon roaming charges.

    yes, as long as u stay with existing carrier and no intention to switch or travel, unlocking is not a compulsory.

    so if i buy a storm from verizon could i use it on at&t EDGE or edge without having to do any unlocking?

    just trying to decide on if i want to go with BOLD or STORM since ATT doesnt sell storm.

    u need to unlocked it first then only u can use with other telcos. this applies to all blackberry & other phones. unlocking will not cost u much and sometimes u can get it for free.
