    So, I've tried to get my Classic unlocked a couple of times now. Freemyblackberry refunded my money with no explanation, my carrier said that since my phone's serial number isn't linked to my line in they're system I'd have to go through BlackBerry.

    I've tried with Blackberrycodesource.com and not heard back.

    So I'm wondering: is the Classic just too new to unlock? I was hoping to get it done before leaving for England vacation, but I've been here two days now and am still using my semi-broken Q5.

    Did your carrier sell you this phone? If so, usually they have the code. BlackBerry doesn't really handle this issue.

    That's what I told the carrier tech support over the phone but he seemed convinced that I should contact the manufacturer.

    He also said that another option would be to go down to a physical store and have them apply the serial number from my phone to my account but I'm still fairly convinced that that's not the problem either. I just didn't have time to check, since I had to go to England.

    But how did they sell you a phone whose "serial number isn't linked to your line in their system?" Would they pull the same line in case you needed warranty service?

    It sounds like Wind Mobile went and lost my IMEI somehow but I appreciate James trying to help.

    I'll have to have a chat with them when I get home, though at that point I won't really *need* it unlocked for quite a while.

    It's possible, yes. You just have to get it unlocked.
