Yes, I'm a relative newbie to Blackberry, currently have an 8350i unlocked for Boost and was wondering if the same can be done with the Torch, will be getting mine on Monday (will be waiting for the UPS guy to get here...lol).

Ummm...no. I believe Boost has a iDen network that your 8350i runs on and a CDMA network...neither technology is compatible with the Torch. The only networks that it will work on are AT&T and T-Mobile.

For now, the Torch is a GSM device. Many are hoping a CDMA version is in the works.

Could someone tell me the difference, in layman's terms, between iDen, CDMA, and GSM? Thanks in advance!

They are different frequencys and signal modulations. None of them are compatable with eachother as your device needs a different radio for each. The 9800 has a GSM radio that will not work with Nextels iDen network or Sprint's CDMA network.

Could the torch be used on Verizon?

As it is now no. Verizon uses CDMA. The current Torch uses GSM. They are not compatable.
