Not sure that Argentina uses the same setup as Europe. so the sim card might not be able to use the GSM networks there.

    doing some research now

Yea Argentina uses the same 850 1900 as here in the us. So the sim card will not work. It will only work on the 900 1800

From what I understand, the 8830 will NOT work on the US gsm frequency with or without a sim card. So, if Argentina uses the same frequency as the US, it will NOT work down there. Good luck

NO way to change them that I know about. The phone was designed with the gsm limitations so it ONLY functions on the European frequencies and then only with the sim card.

An engineer might be able to change chips (solder, desolder) but I have not even read about that.

Unfortunately, you purchased the wrong phone for Argentina. Someone gave you BAD advice.

Sell the phone and get an appropriate device.

the 8830 WE is a CDMA phone with the GSM radio to have it work in Europe.

The GSM radio of the phone will not worn in North or South America. And there is no way of changing that.

At best you could find out if Sprint offers CDMA down in Argentina.

Unlocking the phone will do nothing other then let you use a different Sim card in Europe.

Hope you can return the phone if you thought it was going to work on the GSM here is the Americas.

    U have 2 options now.
    1. Sell 8830 & buy something which works in ur country
    2. If u have CDMA opeartor, use CDMA on 8830. That should work
