I'm getting a new unlocked phone in the next few days.

Does it make any difference aside from the logos if I get ATT, Rogers, T-MO, etc?

    Thank you.

If youre currently on a GSM network, (SIM card), then no. If youre on Verizon, or Sprint, or any other CDMA device you have to get another CDMA device. GSM devices wont work on a CDMA carrier and visa versa.

Thanks, I'm sorry I should have mentioned that. I am on a GSM network with 3G.

Actually, it does matter in the US. Not all GSM phones in the US are equal. If your carrier is T-Mobile, then you'll need to check the specs of the phone to ensure it has the 3G support on 1700MHz. AT&T and Rogers do not carry their 3G on that freq.

Thanks again! I should have also mentioned I checked the phone (8900) and the carriers and it will work. I'm in Asia.

I already have a 3G phone so it doesn't bother me the 8900 doesn't have it. The main thing for me is wifi and BIS.

if you're in Asia better to get hold of an unlocked 9700/Storm2 (depending on your preferences) and use it with your carrier.

The 9700 is much more expensive than the 8900. What is the reason for your suggestion?

    3G and trackpad.

The trackpad would be nice, but as I mentioned I already have a 3G phone so not a big deal for the money I save with the 8900 v. the 9700. Plus I like the keyboard and the looks of the 8900 more.

8900 is an extremely competent BB and since you like the looks whats holding you back? Get one immediately and join the bandwagon. We would love to have one more addict.

Yep trying to buy one today over the net. What's holding me back is I live in a place where stuff is expensive and hard to find and haven't found a reliable American shop that will ship to me, so....on the search I go....

Not really just make sure the bands supported will work with your network. Most will.

8900 will work on any GSM Network that supports EDGE (wich are most) because the Blackberry 8900 is Quad-Band
