    Hi,

I am new to the forum and I assume this question has been asked too many times, so I apologise in advance!

I have a new blackberry curve 8520 on the Virgin Mobile UK network. Can it be unlocked?

How long does it take and can it be done for free?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Some Service Providers will give you the unlock key, if you tell them you will be going abroad for a trip. If they don't you will need to use a service and buy a key. There are several listed in these forums. Most will send the key in about 24 hours.

    Cool, thanks.

What is the chance of it being unlocked for free?

(I dont have a problem paying for it, but if it can be done for free....)

    Are those unlockers listed legit?

A "blackberry curve from sprint" cannot be unlocked in the sense that is being discussed in this thread. This thread is talking about removing the subsidy lock from a GSM device.

If you can't remember your BlackBerry password, then there's no way around it. Enter it incorrectly the set number of times and the device will be wiped and you can start over.

Hopefully, you have a recent backup.
