    You cannot get an unlock code for free unless you still have a contract with the phone carrier that you are trying to unlock.

    There is software out there that you can use and download online, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't work and you also have a chance of blowing your phone away. (Takes time also)

    You have many online unlockers that are willing to unlock your phone for different prices, some are cheaper than others, some have a faster turn around time that others. (IMO faster method, then trying to download the software and trying to unlock your phone by yourself)

    I completely agree..many providers to choose from with varying strengths. Also, incase many people aren't aware, none of the canadian carriers will provide you with unlock codes, regardless of your story or the length of time that you have been with them for.
