My understanding is that Bell 9700's are both SP and Network locked (with Rogers only being Network Locked).

With the rogers phone you can just get a code from eBay and unlock it. Does anyone know if the same is possible with Bell?

Has anyone purchased one and had it unlocked?

    Thanks!

We have no reports yet that Telus has 2 codes, but you can check by going to Options/Advanced Options/SIM Card and then type the letters "mepd"

On the Personalization screen, if the phone has 2 locks you will see the following

    Network Active
    Service Provider Active

So you need two codes to unlock this phone? What does each one mean?

For the Bell 9700 yes. One is for the Network lock and the other is for the Service Provider lock

Just wondering, if I buy the unlock code from you, but then in the future I wipe my BB clean and install a new OS, will I have to get another code, or is the phone forever unlocked from the first code?

Blackberry Unlocking is permanent, you will never need to enter the code again.

If unlocking a 9700 from Bell and using it with Rogers, will it be 3G on rogers? or EDGE?

Trade it for a Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9700.

How can I fall out of 3g coverage?

Will an unlocked 9700 from Bell used with Rogers 3G be as fast as a normal Rogers 9700 using 3G?

There's really no point in unlocking this device then...

has this been tested already on rogers?

there isn't, but Rogers right now is out of stock where I live, they told me they don't know when they are receiving it. Plus I have a friend at Bell that could give me his 9700 for barely 150$. All I need is to know if unlocking it will have as fast 3G than if I bought one from Rogers.

it'll be the same speed as if you were to buy the rogers version.
Only problem is that if it doesn't support edge on rogers, then you might lose reception.

example: On my bold, i sometimes lose 3g and rely on edge for reception

That is false information. It is the same as a Rogers 9700. EDGE or 3G.

I asked the same question to a local cell phone store owner and he said yes, everything will work like normal. You would ofcourse have to get a BB data plan from Rogers for email and messaging services to work

Hi, I recently placed an order to obtain 2 codes for my BB 9700. I got an email back saying to obtain some more info and send it back but I am unable to run "berrylogger" program on mine and my friends computers.

Could you please help me out? Is there anything else I can do? Is there any more up to date software that I could use to get that info.

I would really appreciate your prompt reply.

    Thank You
