    Hey Crackberry Nation,

We just wanted to let you lucky Sprint users who got their hands on the new Blackberry Bold 9650 from Sprint, that your phone is already unlocked.

We are getting a lot of request asking us to unlock them, but they're already factory unlocked.

You can confirm so by going to Options/Advanced Options/SIM Card and then type the letters "mepd" (without the quotes). You might have to type it in upper case MEPD.

You will see the Personalization screen and Network should say Disabled or Inactive which means your Blackberry is unlocked.

You can use your Unlocked 9650 with most GSM SIM cards worldwide.

    Enjoy your new toy!

How nice of Sprint to not lock their new phones. Wonder if they will change that soon

Indeed nice. Not sure about the rest of the providers, but eventually one day we all know that phones will all be sold unlocked.

Does this mean that the phone can be used on Verizon with the sim card from the tour? Or only on GSM networks?

Only GSM networks. The SIM that Verizon includes with their phones is only meant for International Roaming and can't be used in North America.
