Purchased an unlocked. 9700 from T-Mobile, now I'm with AT&T network....everything works fine but I noticed there's no 3G signal. All I get is "EDGE". Traveled all over the city (Philadelphia) for a stronger sig. But still nothing. HELP!!! What's going on?

That's all you'll get... AT&T and TMO use different 3G frequencies.

    Should have done some research

AT&T and T-Mobile use different network bands. From my understanding, you can't use 3G on an unlocked T-Mobile phone on an AT&T plan and vice-versa

If you are looking to get 3G, find someone to swap it with, you will be stuck with edge. As stated above, different bands on the radio which are not changable.

Use the forums here or Kijiji to change phones.

sounds like some lemmings need training...

lol... ( not you phil / some other people )

it's not only the bands that are different but the method at which they are transmitted at as well. T-Mobile USA uses UTMS signals. They are the only major league player to use this technology.... that i am aware of T-Mobile and Cincinnati Bell are the only two that use UTMS.

I'm going to be with wind or another contract-free provider in 3 years. Glad to know what network they use in advance.

If you read the 9800 forums it clearly has been shown not to work.

The 3G bands that the ATT uses are not the same as T-Mobile,

There is nothing you can do to make it work. EOS.

if you want the Torch & HSPA you need to use ATT.

Don't bother with wind! The concept is nice but their network range is small therefore causing phones to roam frequently... buyer beware.
