Your provider will give you an unlock code, usually within a day.

You will have to pay for an unlock code unless you can get T-Mobile to give you one for free. However, that's unlikely since you do not appear to be a T-Mobile customer.

Or you can pay for an IMEI unlock code.....

Even after becoming a T-Mob customer, they won't provide unlock codes untill 3 months of service has been fulfilled 1st. Your best bet would be to find sum1 u know that already has T-Mobile, give them your IMEI and have them try to get it unlocked for you. They would just need to put their SIM card into the Berry you're trying to get unlocked so it shows it's being used on that persons acct. Then you should be good to go!

If Orange will not give you a free unlock code then you will have to buy one from an unlocking website I am afraid.

You would probably need to be a customer but it won't hurt to try.

I just tried this for my new 8310 Curve today. It is still locked on T-Mobile UK. I called them and told them that I was abroad and had purchased a local SIM card and would they please unlock my phone so that I cold talk to local work colleagues.

I called using a T-Mobile SIM card that I had lying around and after about 10 minutes of being nice to the lady she said, "OK, I can unlock you phone for 15 and a 28 day wait".

I went to my usual unlocker (I will post the url if asked but not otherwise), paid the $65 and am now waiting for the unlock code to arrive.

There is no magic to this. You really do have to pay up for an unlocked BB.

The cost of unlocking is highly variable depending on the carrier that the phne is locked to.

Just my luck, T-Mobile UK was the most expensive.

What's the big deal paying for a code? The most I've ever paid was $9 and the last time I got a code from ebay for $5 emailed to me a few hours after I gave them my phone info. If you can afford to use a blackberry, I'm sure you can afford to purchase a code. Jeez.

As it is normally phone unlocks come with the provider, in the terms and conditions,
mine ("optus blackberry") said if you wait 6 months your phone will be automatically unlocked, if you cannot wait pay 60$ and your phone will be unlocked on da spot!

So yeah, that's pretty much it :P

Yes, but we have mentioned numerous times through the forum that we will price match any reputable company.
