    I ordered the code online along with the instructions.

    1. Using the menu go to Settings Menu -> SIM card press select.
    2. While holding the SHIFT key, type MEPD or (MEPPD for Vodafone Handsets)
    3. You should now see the five locking categories listed.
    4. While holding the SHIFT KEY, type MEP2 or (MEPP2 for Vodafone handsets)
    5. Release the shift key.
    6. You are now prompted to enter the Network MEP code (it will also state how many attempts left)
    7. Enter the code
    8. Enter Return/Enter
    9. The device should then be unlocked

    When I am at step 4 no other screen pops up, only the following below stays

    SIM = unknown
    Network = unknown
    Network Subset = unknown
    Service Provider = unknown
    Corporate = unknown

    Not true. Why would the phone come unlocked from a CDMA carrier?

    Do you have the SIM card in the phone? It won'twork unless it's in there.

    Pretty cool if they sell phones already unlocked. Try the instructions on this web site.

    2 of my 3 Tour's came unlocked. The day 1 tour was locked but subsequent replacements were all unlocked out of the box.

    Hey bt85bt did you find a solution?

    Just got a new sprint blackberry 9630 through ebay and I'm unable to get the "enter network key" screen. I'm trying to use the phone on AT&T.
    When prompted to write MEP2 I dont get anything but the following
    NO Valid SIM Card (top of the screen)

    SIM = unknown
    Network = unknown
    Network Subset = unknown
    Service Provider = unknown
    Corporate = unknown

    Phone says activation required at the top of the screen
    I tried inserting the ATT sim card and repeating the process to see if its probably unlocked but it gives me no signal (SOS) and the same No Valid SIM card message when I go to Sim card advanced options. The weird thing is that when going into mobile network options and service status it does recognize ATT as my network provider only that it says not connected.

    I'm new to BB so is there anything else that needs to be done? Any help is truly appreciated

    The Tour doesn't come unlocked....I bought mine off of Ebay (was a week old), and it was SIM locked....but I called Sprint's international services department, asked for an unlock code, and got it. I was even guided through the whole MEPD process by the operator.

    Give it a try

    One step they (sprint cs) had me do before starting was turning off the radio.

    My first tour was locked, my second replacement, came unlocked.

    If your phone is sprint call the international desk they will help you unlock it for free. My phone was unlocked on arrival as well.

    My TOUR did not come unlocked, from sprint. I paid for the code, as sprint would not give it to me. Then when I go into the steps to unlock it I am having trouble. The mep2 is not doing anything. When I type it in, I get no response.

    Can somebody please help me.

    battery pull fixed the problem. The phone was already unlocked. If you get the "unknown" when typing mepd the phone is probably unlocked.

    Maybe you do not have the correct unlock code for it.
