call T-Mobile customer support... tell them you will be traveling outside the US (tell them you're going to Europe for vacation) and will need to use local SIMs...

i got my unlock inside of 24hrs after requesting it from T-Mo cust support...

Going to a T Mobile store is the best, just tell them you'll be on a business trip and you are getting a local SIM card when you get to that country, always works for me. Good luck

If you're not a TMO customer, they likely will not unlock it. Also, just a FYI for you. A TMO 9700 or ATT will not use of 3G. They use different frequencies on the 3G band.

Keep in mind you will not get 3G if you use a T-Mobile branded device on AT&T's network. http://forums.crackberry.com/f157/using-unlocked-t-mobile-bold-att-3g-impossible-435520/

Try T-mobile if you have a account with them if not we or any other reputable unlocker on here can unlock it for you.

I was traveling to Ireland and wanted to bring my 9700 and use a sim card from their country. I called T-Mobile told them my plans and in less then one hour they had E-Mailed me the unlocking code and the directions to unlock it. Thanks T-Mobile.

    Hi,

No it won't get 3G in the philippines but it will work with any GSM network in Philippines on 2G EDGE speeds after it's unlocked.

Let us know if you have any other questions,

    Cheers,

2G for traveling is also fine.. i think you people need to enjoy the vacation instead of browsing the web with your Blackberry

You can unlock you phone online in minutes and get the unlock code for your Blackberry 9700 sent to your email.

2G is perfect for email and bbm. It's just the browsing and live streaming that you will notice a difference.
