However, when i go back to settings, options, and advanced options and in Sim Card: it says Sim card: security disabled? and shows my ID and phone number: it doesnt show the list of the others disabled, the way i unlocked it because its a new phone i just plugged in my fido sim card and it said at the start up, this sim does not work do you want to unlock this phone? then i jus pressed yes and it gave me the same MEP code requirement... and now the network says Rogers Wireless but I'm with Fido... LOL but i tried making a call it works

Sorry if this question has been asked or if it is in the wrong forum. I am new here. I heard today that if I unlock my phone that I will always be in "my home region" and there will be no long distance charges. Is this true or just a hoax.

    Hi there,

I'm from the States but am moving to NZ soon for one year and would like to use an unlocked 9700 there. Will purchasing a phone in the States and unlocking it with you allow me to do this without issues?

Also, is there an advantage to purchasing a locked phone and unlocking it with you, to purchasing an already unlocked one on ebay?

    Thanks,
    Anna

Yes, once unlocked you will be able to use it with most GSM providers. The price of a locked phone is usually cheaper then a locked one.

Most GSM providers ? shouldn't an unlocked phone work with any GSM provider/Carrier ?

Not all, phone needs to be compatible with the frequency that network operates on. Example a T-mobile 9700 will not work on Bell's Network because the phone is not compatible with Bell's 3G frequency and they don't have a 2G Network.

If you buy the ATT 9700 then you will be wine and it will work with every network once unlocked. Some on 3G and some on 2G only.

Hey I just bought the unlock from your website. I paid over PayPal, if you can get my code to me ASAP that would be great since I'm currently out of a phone.

I paid under Serena or Steven W.

I believe they use the same frequency.

Greetings all - lets say hypothetically, someone wanted to unlock their "work phone" (provided by the jobby-job) for use while on an overseas trip - so that person could buy a local SIM card and use their phone while on vacation without running up the company phone bill. Would there be any negative repercussions as far as screwing with the BES server functionality or corp policy or whatnot afterward?

    Thanks for any info.
