I'm scouring the internet for prices on an unlocked Blackberry Bold 9000 to get my girlfriend for Christmas and am hoping for some insight on what my cut off price should be?

Clearly, I do have some requirements of my own:
    1. New (No Refurbs)
    2. Original packaging
    3. Not > $400

Not too extensive, I know. But I do need to identify the difference between getting a deal and being robbed, and pray for a comfort zone in the middle. I'm thinking I'll need to spend upwards of $400, but was hoping for some pointers/guidance.

Are there any 'scam' words I should look to avoid when shopping on eBay?

    Thanks for all your help!

    -Angel

look on ebay for completed auctions, that should tell you what the going price is. Been away from BB's for awhile but you should be able to get one for under $400 easily.

I didn't even know that was possible. Is there a tab somewhere on the home page?

after you search you should see it on the side of the listings, scroll down and it will say completed listings and click it. i just checked for you and they have been ending at less than 300 for mint to brand new.

This really isn't a Market Place thread, although I can see why you posted it here. I'm going to move it to the Bold 9000 forum, so the folks there can give their opinions.

For sure that's reasonable, $400 USD. You have set yourself a terrific amount.

Should be doable between $300 (going extremely low, great deal) to $375 (average).

If you spend some decent time on it, Between $325 and $350 won't be too difficult.

I just bought a lightly used 9000 unlocked for $250 on ebay which included a charging dock.

Brand new I wouldn't pay more than $325 or so. If your going to go higher than that just spring for the extra cash and get a 9700.

don't focus on it being unlocked. You can buy an unlock code on ebay for 4.99 and receive it instantly.

I got my 9000 used on craigslist for $100. Comes with everything except box and headphones. The bezel is a bit beat up but everything is fully functional. Here's a tip, whenever a new phone replacement comes out, check out craigslist as many users will sell their old version for cheap. I got the iPhone 2g for $50, 3g when 3gs came out for $100.

Actually found a great one for $325 online.

Lightly used, but I was a sucker for the pictures. The hi-res pics were spotless, so I bid with confidence. There's also a money-back guarantee, so I'm feeling good about it.

And I already have the 9700. My girl hates it, but loves the 9000. She thinks the 9700 is too small...imagine that? I'm the one with the big hands.

    Thanks, all.

You live and learn. I've been on eBay for many years, and I didn't know this was possible! Thanks for the tip, lulbert!
