    I have a Bold, and my girlfriend is on Verizon. She is not due for an upgrade so I want to give her my 8310 curve to use. How do we get Verizon to activate it and how do I get a sim card from Verizon? Called verizon and customer service lady told me that they will not put any device they do not sell on their network. She says even though the 8310 is unlocked they can still tell the device is not theirs by some other type of ID number from the phone. However I see a lot of folks here doing it. So how can I get this done? So any help would greatly be appreciated.

    Thanks
    BBDB

    YOu can't do this. Verizon sim cards are for global use only not for use within the U.S.

    As far as I know. Someone might say its possible but as far as I know its impossible.
    The VZW sim card is only for Tour/World Edition/Storm global phone...

    There is a difference between world edition and being able to use on any carrier. VZW is CDMA(Electronic Identification) not GSM (SIM Card). VZW 9530(Storm), 8830 (WE Curve) are capable to be used any where in the world as they use GSM outside the US. Within the US, the use CDMA. Within the USA 9530 can be unlocked to be used on a GSM carrier but using EDGE only as 3G GSM in the US is a different frequency than overseas.

    An AT&T BB's do not have CDMA capability and therefore they CAN NOT be used on VZW.

    Sprint or other CDMA capable BB's can not be used on VZW unless you can get VZW to re-flash or add the IMEI number into their system.

    Thank you for the explanation, now I understand why it doesn't work. Man verizon has a very strict network...

    Blue and Bold I have a buddy at work that just upgraded to a Storm from a Verizon World edition phone, it is in real good condition. I'm waiting to see if he is going to stick it out with the storm and try to buy that one.

    Again...

    CDMA= Square Peg

    GSM = Round Hole

    8300/8310/8320 is GSM only.

    VZW is CDMA only.

    Just like you cannot listen to AM Talk Radio stations on your MP3 player with FM radio, and you cannot do ham radio with a CB radio, you cannot connect a GSM-only phone to a CDMA network or a CDMA-only phone to a GSM network.

    And you cannot put a square peg into a round hole.
