    1) send it away, wireless services mobile best buy at horizonwireless.com does them. at least thats a site i've seen recommended here. ($50-60)

    or

    2) have a friend on verizon wireless activate it (who has had a contract with them for more than 60 days and is in good standing) and they can call verizon global support to get the unlock code.

You need to contact Verizon and obtain the unlock code. Since you dont have a Verizon account, they'll never give it to you. Other option is to pay $50-60 to have it unlocked. Do a search on the forums.

I just got a 9530, is that "Global Support" card the unlock code?

Nope, the unlock code is obtained through VZW Global CS, the card doesn't have anything on it.

VZW will only give you the code if you are a VZW customer. If not then you will have to pay someone to do it. 2nd poster has the link posted.

So, as a VZW customer, can I call to get the code? My account is a global account since I travel out of the US for business.

Yes as long as that phone is active. Just give them a call and get transferred to Global Support. Then ask them for the unlock code and tell them because your phone is used for work and your work wants you to use their SIM card because they don't want to pay for your personal calls, only business calls.

I used uniquephones.com just last night to unlock my UK (vodafone) Blackberry, and here I am the next day with everything connected and my Orange sim working in there....... they sent me the unlock code in less than 3 minutes, and it worked first time. I can't recommend them highly enough, and their price was less than 25% of what my local store wanted to charge me.
NOTE: I don't work for this company or anything! I just read their recommendation here on crackberry also, which is why I used them!

I was searching for free code for my Storm 9530 when this site popped up, I saw several recommendations from others on how to and where to unlock my Verizon Blackberry. I was about to buy the code for $30, but just before purchase I thought I should give it another try to get it at more affordable price, since I am a student and part timer! so $30 is really something for me.
I was lucky to found this same code for only $18 and I was like YAHOOoooOO!
took around 15 minutes after my Paypal payment and code arrived in email alongwith simple instructions on how to key in the code.
so guys save money and get your

Blackberry code for $18 from here

I hope I am doing a great work by helping others to find something for so cheap!

    Cheers!

So I have been a Verizon customer for over 60 days and I tried to call up today and get the unlock code and the lady started giving me pricing for oversees and said that there was no way for that to be an option. She said there was no way to unlock my phone and use it oversees. I told her I was traveling for 3 months to Germany...should I call back later or pay someone to do it?
