If you call the network and report the phone as found they may be able to help return it

If.not and you want to unlock it
Yes, it can be unlocked.to work with any gsm network worldwide.

but note: If the phone was reported lost or stollen the pin may be blocked
And wont work, but you will still be able to use it for phone and sms

it's italian and i think that it can work with any gsm network!

i would like to understand if it is locked, and, if the IMEI (it hasn't a pin code) is blocked what can i do?

i would also upgrade the firmware but i don't understand very well how! my firmware is 5.0.0.351, i see that there is a firmware "6.0.0.600": can i use it? my phone still will be in italian?

Just a side-note. Hand it over to the police, I have heard of incidents that lost BlackBerry's are easily tracked down. You can get penalized for up-to $50,000 if the BlackBerry gets traced.

If you tried to find the owner and no success ... type mepd in options-device-advanced-simcard .. if it says active beside network or service provider then it is locked.

IMEI unlocked so that means you can use it with any carrier as long as you tried to contact the original owner ..

there easier to track down if they have set up a BlacBerry Protect on it if they do not have that its alot harder to track down, the phone thats easy to track down is the iphones

Does it belong to you? If not, you should turn it over.

Because you did not buy it, so you are in possession of stolen property.
