I have searched and can't find an answer that's current. Is there somewhere I can find which blackberry models can be unlocked and used in canada on the bell network? I know only sim card models can be unlocked but which carriers are compatible with bell's network? Any help would be great! Thanks!

Any phones that are sold by Rogers/Fido/AT&T/Virgin Mobile but at the same time they need to be 3G compatible, because Bell only has a 3G GSM Network (No EDGE)

So those carriers will work but how do I know if they are edge compatible. My current bell is 1XEV, is the hspa network 3G and edge as opposed to my current phone with bell which is 1XEV? How would I know which one to buy and ensure it'll work with bell

Bells is ONLY HSPA (3G) NO EDGE. You need a device from any of the carriers listed in the above posts which is 3G Compatible.

Curve 8530, but I want to get a bold 9700 or 9000. If I can find one on AT&T or rogers cheap then I'll unlock it.

You will need to switch to Bell's 3G HSPA plans and they will give you a SIM card and you will be able to use it in any Bell/Telus/Rogers/Fido 3G GSM phones.

Only the 9000 and 9700 from other networks (besides the ones from Tmobile and Wind mobile) will work on Bell's HSPA network

Let us know if you need any help getting yours unlocked!

Yes because the 9000 & 9700 are the only 3G capable Blackberrys and Bell new HSPA Network is 3G only. They don't have any EDGE Network.

No that won't work. Only Blackberry that you will be able to use on Bell's 3G HSPA Network will be the 9700 & 9000.

Also if you plan on buying a 9700, make sure you don't get the Wind or T-Mobile USA ones because those are not compatible either.

YES! but you need to unlock your phone
A Verizon Tour will not work with neither Bell's or Telus 3G HSPA Network.
