with all the settings - there is certainly one that will let you overclock the chip - or unlock the graphics capabilities - or power on the hidden on-board wifi?

You can find out a nice bug from 5.0.0.140 media when playing music via Bluetooth. Equalizer does not save properly after music switches. So if you had it on rock set in the media options on your blackberry, its really not. Check it out. Set your equalizer to something on the E screen and then skip a song. You'll see it resets itself. Nice bug find there. option to force background playing in landscape too, but I've been on this before

So has anyone tried playing with these settings at all? I think there is a lot of potential tweaking that can be done I'm just not sure how safe it is therefore I won't try it without some feedback from someone more experienced

Don't run the Diagnostic it will lock up your Storm. Battery pull will fix it, BUT why tempt fate.

Its only the light sensor test that has locked up my storm. The other diagnostic tests seem to work fine.

I found the usb setting very slow to charge unless I open up the desktop manager then plug in the phone. It charges must faster then.

One of the points you say in the OP is that the USB charges at a better rate than the wall charger but I have to dissagree with that. I had my storm plugged into the pc all afternoon and it only went to about 50% but in the wall it only takes a few hours from flat to the point the flash symbol goes off.

Wow - can't believe after all this time no one has been able to decipher the menus to our benefit. I for one blame Apple. No reason I just want to.

So just what the heck is up with your avatar? Is it from an alternate universe where gravity is different and thus in our universe it's getting squished?

Just did a little test on .323 with the throttling option on the evdo screen. average time to complete the download portion of the app speedtest with throttling enabled was 32.6 seconds, and 31.6 seconds with throttling disabled. not a huge difference by any means, but kinda interesting. only ran it 3 times for each so it wasnt a huge dataset.

its funny to see the hidden e screen but it is only use full if we had a list of changes that would improve the system.

it's not a way to "improve" anything....it's for network engineers and testers to use for device testing. like RIM internal testing or VZW lab/network testing

Did anyone notice the speaker gain in the menu? I would assume this is where they were able to crank the speaker up in .230, and this would be the place to fix it if you wanted to stay on .230 (for some crazy reason).

How about under RAM, the filesystem clean, I wonder if this would free up any extra memory?

When running the light sensor test, I would just click the screen, then I'd see a menu for Next test, Cancel, etc.
