I just received a Bold 9650 as a replacement for my Tour. I decided after I got the Bold that I wanted to sell it. In order to increase the value of it, I decided to unlock it. I currently have the phone on ebay, and was asked if the phone can be re-activated with Verizon (it's a Verizon Bold) since it's been unlocked. Initially I thought it could be but after perusing some other auctions of unlocked Verizon Bolds the sellers say that they cannot be re-activated with Verizon. I'm not sure what the answer is but I don't see why it can't be put back on Verizon? All unlocking it does is allow the phone to accept other brands of SIM cards. Do most of these bolds I'm seeing on ebay that can't go back on Verizon just have bad ESNs then?

There is no reason why an unlocked VZW device cannot be used on VZW.

The SIM card is not even necessary to use on VZW. The device will work fine on VZW's network even if the SIM card is missing.

If a VZW-branded phone will not work on their network, it is usually due to a bad ESN (reported lost or stolen, or the seller failed to pay his bill).

Lak is correct as long as the ESN is clear activation will not be an issue.

Haha, funny chetman. Someone bought it but apparently it was a fraudulent bidder so the auction is back up now.

Thank you everyone for clarifying this for me!
