Hey guys. I feel like I've seen this before but can't find it via search. Is there a way to tell when your Tour was built? I see the where, but not the when.
If you have the black box, it is just above the line as where it was made. Just look the word "Handheld" it should look something like this: "071209" which translates into July 12, 2009.
Cool. Thanks. Mine is 270709, so I guess it's using the International DD MM YY; thus July 27. Oh, and Mexico 5.
So, the obvious follow up question, was there a date range associated with all the Tour problems? Or a date that phones made after are OK?
My first phone was 030709 -- July 3rd Mexico 5 -- and while it had no screen ripple or muffled sound -- it did develop trackball and headphone jack problems.
This one was made just 3 weeks later, so I'm guessing it will be hit or miss on having the known issues.
mine is a 07/22/09 100% perfect with no problems, It seems like it might have just been that first batch with the problems,Which probably equates to a couple million phones.
Is there a way to find the build date on the device itself? I have no box, 2nd tour was from CS, came without Point of Sale box (and used the shipping materials to return).

trackball is so so. Had one time where it wouldnt go up but i rubbed it back and forth quickly and all is good. There is a little lag sometimes on the main screen but no place else.
Haven't noticed the trackball issues yet, but have seen a slight instance where the trackball didn't move up. All in all no complaints yet, going on 10 days.
7/14/09 Mexico 5... first(only) Tour... slightly loose battery door of course, no screen ripple unless I insist upon it, and fair trackball.... set 80/70 in the beginning it was perfect then after a week or so it started sticking... I clean it regularly and its basically fine. (I hate Brickbreaker so I don't care if its smooth or not LOL).
one day old tour built on 07-23-09 mexico 5. got the latest build date that best buy had, so far so good only time will tell.
mine doesn't have the battery with the rough sticker so my door moves a little.
My replacement from telesales was built 08/12/09, received 08/25/09. Trackball works perfect. Door fits snug. Only complain is the signal strength with drop calls. I'll wait for official 5.0 release to see if this problem was resolved.
