I've looked through the zillions of posts about 5.0 but can't find anything that explicitly lists what the advantages of 5.0 are. I just bought a Tour and it has 4.7. It's running fine. I don't want to risk a bunch of setting-fiddling hassle unless the advantages of 5.0 are worth it.
If I missed a relevant post, please feel free to link to it.
All in all it feels like the OS as a whole runs a lot smoother. Threaded SMS is one nice benefit, but it seems like data loads much faster than with 4.7 as well.
Threaded SMS is my fav thing about it. Everything is better on 5.0. And it makes sense to upgrade. I absolutely love it. Smoother, cleaner, faster! Zero complaints from me. I was hesitant to try it after reading a few complaints but those were minor. Its worth it....
if you looked through a lot of post and still don't know what the advantages of upgrading are then you might be better off just sticking with what you have until your made to upgrade....
I guess you don't miss what you haven't seen. I'm running 4.7.1.61 and my phone does everything I need or expect it to do. Three email accounts deliver without a bobble, all my extra apps run like a champ, browser is plenty fast, and my phone has never shown an error of any type, or even hesitated on any thing I have done with it. Long story short, what I've got is the absolute best phone I've ever had, so why should I take a chance of screwing it up with a non-factory upgrade.
Spoken like a chump, I mean champ. The OP is with Sprint who has already released their 5.0. I was stating my frustration with Vzw not releasing their's yet. Now run along....
well that i totally understand. It took me a while to make the decision to move to 5.0.x and personally for me it has worked out for the better. However i realize everyone's results do vary.
Is there a way to get 5.0 without the threaded SMS? I'm not a fan of that, and it's mainly one of the reasons why I won't download 5.0. Might sound like a dumb reason not to get it, but I just don't like it
