Is there any way to change what part of the song starts at the beginning of the ring tone or is it just programmed to go through as normal?

Not built into the device but there are tons of ringtone creators out there. Here is one to try out. Just give google a spin and see what else is out there

You can use Audacity or wavepad to edit mp3 files and pick approx 30 seconds for your ringtone.

I would remove the ringtones out (free up memory) then load what you want on your storage card after you make your own.

I use Audacity to edit the songs and when done I use MP3 Gain to increase the volume if needed.
