That's why I rarely turn off my phone, maybe once or twice a week for a battery pull. Otherwise, it's always on.

I'm running the .419 leak and my phone boots up in about 3 to 4 minutes. When I first got this phone, 4.7 was installed and it took about 7 to 8 minutes to boot.

Does anyone here know exactly why this is? I learned it a few weeks ago and it blew my mind.

Every computing device has two kinds of memory. There's physical memory and RAM. RAM is memory that can be accessed instantly and is used for open and running programs. Physical memory is like the hard drive on your computer and is used for storage.

When you have an OS on your BB the info is stored on the physical memory, but it is only stored. When it actually gets to using the memory, it has to be brought to the foreground. This is what is happening during the boot-up process. Your BB is going through the OS, line by line, and "opening" the OS for you to use.

This is where you get the time fluctuation during upgrades and downgrades. If there are less lines coded into the OS it boots faster since there is less to decrypt. If there are more lines you will experience longer boot times.
