Tour Scroll Ball Fix!
Ok so i think i finally found the ultimate fix for the sticking trackball on the tour. I have two tours and two curves. (gf and mine) Both tours are less then two weeks old. I think the issue is with the material of the trackball itself. If you feel the texture of the curve trackball and the tour, the tour seems silky smooth compared to the curve. What did i do u ask? Well im a tech for sprint so i snatched a replacement trackball for the curve and replaced the tours black trackball. The difference is night and day. My tour trackball never scrolled to the right and now its smooooth! Oh and what about the color you ask?
RIT: Rit Dye
pick a color and enjoy. I did this to my curve and dyed it black to match my housing. Works 100%
here are some pics for comparison.

How do you get a replacment trackball if you're not a tech?

Unless you have a Verizon/Sprint technician do this I believe you will void the warranty correct?
-
well im sure even a tech wont do it cause of the issue with the curve trackball not being the "correct part" for the tour. Go figure. Id do it for a customer but thats me.

CNN.cn is awesome! Call Steve there if you need help. (Perfect english)
Their webiste has a clock that shows Hong Kong time, so it's easy to know when you can call.
They have a black trackball as well, so you can avoid the dye!
I've taken apart an 8330 several times and a Bold once, and it's easy with the tools and instructional video for your 1st time.
No idea what it's like to take apart my Tour yet. I'll wait until they have a brandless bottom tab to see...

8830 and 8330 trackballs are a 2 min job to replace. just get a sharp metal pick or tiny flat head screw driver and pop off the silver ring. On the tour, you have to strip the whole phone becuase the trackball comes out from behind, instead of the front like 8830 and 8330.

I have an ultimate fix as well. Works even better without voiding any warranty. Exchange the phone for one that works LOL. The trackball issue is not universal. Mine is silky smooth every which way and always has been. 70 70 is zipping and may even go to 60 60.

I personally wouldn't risk taking apart the phone to replace the trackball...if something else happens and the warranty is void because of this then that would really suck...

What you can also try doing is ordering a black curve trackball from cnn.cn and then going to a repair center and asking the tech if he doesnt mind changing the trackball for you because yours doesnt work. Now you wont void your wanrranty.
