hey everyone....i just upgraded my tour to 5.0.0.419 and on the home screen the darker transparent "bars" behind the icons at the bottom and behind the clock and other info at the top of the screen are still there....shouldnt those be gone in 5.0?

That is theme related NOT OS related. Lots of themes do not have them.

yeah thats how they made it again on .419 I liked the theams that .230 has where they had no bars, it looked a lot cleaner and made the wallpapers look that much better.
I don't remember what theme is was before, but the only available themes are Verizon Precision and Precision. Both have black bars. If I could keep official release OS and download a theme without the black bars then it would be fine with me.
Hmmm..I dont know or think that 4.7xx has themes taht don't have the blackbar. I think you have to upgrade to 5.0, but hey, download one or two and try them out? Its the best way to really know.
When in doubt, try it out...its not like you're injecting yourself with acid...lol...if it doesn't work..just take the theme off your phone.
use the newest .419 hybrid I think its dv5.1 by driphter. I have it installed and have no bars.
To be honest, I didnt have bars when I had the regular .419 on my phone...must be your theme.
driphter's 5.1 has the shaded bars top and bottom. I prefer it that way. i can use any wallpaper I want and not worry about the status icons blending into the wallpaper.
yea the black bars are better for your wallpapers so you can still see the icons with any wallpaper....the black bars are a little weird but they are ok i guess.....no choice
if you really don't like it, spend 20 minutes with theme creator 5.0 and you can get rid of them. you just have to replace the dark bar portions with blanks and replace the homescreen icon highlight image with the application screen version.
