Taking Tour back 2 Sprint...back to good ole Curve.
- A few weeks ago, I went into Sprint and HAD to have the newest BB. I LOVED my curve but my Crackberry OCD would not let a new model pass me by...I kissed my precious Curve and purchased the Tour...
The 1st day, I noticed signal problems immediately. Since then, I have not had a BB that cut off in the middle of a convo as many times as I have! I mean, I have NEVER had dropped calls on my Curve. Then there's the "I can't hear you" almost every conversation I have that gets pretty annoying as well. Also, I really didn't notice any remarkable changes that the Tour has that my trusty Curve didn't already provide for me. I wasted $ , an upgrade AND had to resign up for a 2yr contract again and no satisfaction? NOT ME!!! My BB is MY WORLD...I need satisfaction and it's not with the Tour. On my way to Sprint now!!

The (original) Curve simply works better AS A PHONE than the Tour. The speaker sounds bigger and louder, the reception more consistent, and (most importantly) the outgoing voice quality is MUCH better with the Curve.09-22-09 09:32 AMLike 0 -
Would you but a brand new Enzo and be ok with a wheel falling off--all because it is a new model?
Gimme a break. Only fan boys say crap like this. I love my berry but am not willing to accept "it is new, all new devices have bugs" as an excuse.09-22-09 10:21 AMLike 0 - I hear this over and over and over and it just pisses me off. The only reason there are problems with new devices is because consumers like you decide to accept it. If you fight back, they will stop releasing crap.

The Tour is my first BB and if I wasn't absolutely satisfied with it, then I wouldn't hesitate to take it back. In fact, I had the trackball problem with my first one and got it replaced just a few days after purchase.
I don't think the consumer should be expected to wait for an OS update to have a functioning phone. There's no telling when that update will come out, and what if you're still not happy after the update. Then, if it's past the standard 15-30 days for exchanging, you're stuck.09-22-09 10:44 AMLike 0 - I absolutely agree on taking it back. - sprint customer myself. ordered on ebay one of the new earlier tours. Like everyone had common problems mostly trackball. Called sprint 800 number last week to complain. Needed to play hardball but persistence paid off. They sent me a new tour overnight(built 8/29/09) and it works great. With sprint you have to be persistent to get what you want. I had a curve and gave it to my son. Definitely nice phone. But don't give up!09-22-09 11:04 AMLike 0
- me replacement has been great! me original device was great, minus the trackball issue. indeed the earpiece is a bit low, but it seems simple enough to be resolved in a OS fix.09-22-09 11:09 AMLike 0

Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com09-22-09 11:34 AMLike 0 - I would try exchanging it for a different one. My Tour works flawlessly. Good trackball, good solid signal, good sound through speaker, handset earpiece, good strong voive performance, and from the little I used Bluetooth, it worked too.
It would be a shame to just turn your back on a truly awesome phone.
Posted from my CrackBerry at wapforums.crackberry.com09-22-09 11:38 AMLike 0 - I had my Tour replaced two times and my third one is amazing. Works great; awesome signal, etc etc etc. There is something to be said for at least letting them replace it once (or whatever you are willing to tolerate).
Anywho, glad you are going to be happy with whatever device suits your needs.09-22-09 02:56 PMLike 0 - BACK TO MY BABYBERRY!!! I am happy with my choice to go back. Sure, I could have wasted time and waited for a new Tour OS to "possibly fix" the issues, reorder a new one and get disappointed again and/or have other issues or just accept that I paid good $ for a phone that I expected to be FLAWLESS and wasn't! If I wanted a phone that lost signals in the middle of a conversation, have voicemail popping up when the phone didn't even ring, a trackball that has a mind of it's own, a battery that is terrible (I had to buy an xtra one to carry AND a car charger)...THEN sure I would have kept the Tour.
I paid good $ as well on my Curve and have no problems at all except maybe an occasional hourglass outta nowhere.
Vanity is why I upgraded, durability/usability/convenience is why I downgraded! My personal choice and opinion!
Thanks for the great feedback and help but while you guys were texting, I was returning my Tour and falling in love all over again with my Curve! ;p
