I had a Curve 8330, and when I used to push the standby, it only took 1 or 2 seconds for the screen to turn off and go blank.

With the Tour, I have noticed it takes around 8-9 seconds, maybe I am being picky but is there any way to speed that up?

I use it for when I put the phone in my pocket, it saves a lot of battery life too from my previous experiences. Just wondering if everyone else notices the differences from previous BB

While it would cost money, you could investigate Autostandby - it waits an amount of time you set and then goes into standby mode.
