    The last sentence in the press release, before the 'about' section, reads as follows.

    "Customers also have the option of using a third-party SIM for international voice and data services."

    Looks like the sprint tour will be unlocked!

    It's a world phone, most countries use SIM cards.

    This is a world phone and CDMA carriers usually ship these without a SIM card. If you go through the BB101 for the Tour it says refer to "your carrier" to obtain a sim card if you plan on international use.

    I have a sprint 8830, it came with a sprint sim card. Sprint's 8830 is unlocked as well. Verizon's 8830 is NOT unlocked, lets see what they do with the tour.

    I think what the OP is saying is that customers will have the option of using a THIRD PARTY sim card..
    meaning that you can get a sim from another network to use in it and also meaning that the phone is unlocked!

    Verizon sends them with a first party sim card that can be used over seas on vodafone

    in order for you to use a third party sim you need to get the phone unlocked.
