So I made it to Europe with 2 Bags for a 1 year stay. The difficult part is after I bought my SIM card at SFC and tried to access the internet.

Nada.

I was told that my phone couldn't access the WiFi, but if I could access it in the US shouldn't I be able to access it in France as well? I really need to be able to use my map feature/GPS at least which uses satellites? But that isn't working either.

Any help someone can give a newbie would be much appreciated.

Find a carrier that offers BIS, get the corresponding SIM, activate service, live happily ever after

1. The phone needs to be unlocked.
2. You need a SIM card that includes BLACKBERRY DATA.
3. The Tour does not have WiFi.

Yep, Tour doesn't have wifi, and you needed it unlocked, which I thought I heard Sprint did right out of the box with all of them but that could be incorrect. You will need a sim with a blackberry data plan though, as the others mentioned.
