I had a Storm from November until August. During that time I had tons of problems with the Storm but never with its signal strength. I didn't even know what 1X was like... I was ALWAYS in 1XEV or no signal at all inside of a building.

I bought a Tour about 2 weeks ago and now I am on 1X more often than I am on 1XEV. The phone frequently bounces back and forth from 1X to 1XEV. I often even get no signal when I would of have 3 or 4 bars of 1XEV with the Storm.

Anyone else have problems like this?

yes the reception on the tour is terrible ... i was told because it doesn't work off of an ESN ... its a world phone and works off of a different chipset or something and sprint has issues with coverage with it.. who knows if an OS upgrade would help any ... assuming verizon has the same issue...

my curve works off an ESN number and the reception is better

The Tour works just like any other Verizon CDMA phone when it is on the Verizon network. Just like the 8830WE and Storm it is a world phone. I doubt that is the problem.
