I use to use Advanced Sound Recorder - very simple and easy to use. It pretty much rips anything streaming or playing through my stereo. But that was only compatible with my XP. I'm looking for something that works with both Vista and Windows 7.

Does anyone know what is a simple and easy to use Ringtone Editing Software out there?

Most ringtones that I've come across are simply MP3 files, which can easily be edited with sound editing software such as Audacity (Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder), a popular, feature-rich, open source, and multi-platform option. Audacity will also handle recording sounds, too, if you're looking to create ringtones from scratch.

    Hope this helps.

Ditto for audacity. You need the LAME encoder to export as mp3 though

    SweetNAMese,

Have you tried to run the Advanced Sound Recorder in compatibility mode? Right click on the application, and select "Troubleshoot Compatibility." From there you should be able to follow the onscreen prompts.

Should you require additional assistance Microsoft does have an official Windows 7 Support Forum located here Windows 7 Category. It is supported by product specialists as well as engineers and support teams. You may want to check the threads there for additional support.
