I made a backup using dm before I updated to .61. If I restore that old back up file will it restor my old OS .40?

If I do that should I wipe my phone first? Ever since I upgraded my signal has been super jumpy.

A DM backup only stores your personal data, not the OS nor apps. If you installed 4.7.1.61 using your PC and the App Loader, and if you still have 4.7.1.40 installed on your PC, all you have to do is delete 4.7.1.61 from your PC and run the App Loader. It will recognize the lower OS version and prompt you to downgrade. If you upgraded OTA to 4.7.1.61, you may have to wipe the OS off the phone. You'll still have to have 4.7.1.40 installed on your PC to reinstall it. The OTA install is only for the latest version.

I haven't noticed any signal problems since upgrading to 4.7.1.61.
