I was careful, but obviously something is wrong. When I insert the battery I get the solid red LED for several seconds and then nothing at all. No display.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Wow that's crazy! Try reinstalling the same os and if that fails bbsak it and then reinstall the os.
I am working on it now using Desktop Manager. We'll see.
Everything installs but there is no display at all.
I guess I just messed up the display somehow. I used BBSAK -- wipe/factory reset, reinstalled the OS (OS5). Everything works fine but there simply is no display. Strange since when I took it apart the screen seemed mounted somehow. Not like there was some ribbon cable to disconnect or something.
Oh well, guess its off to grab another phone in the morning. Thanks anyway.
Actually I suppose more is wrong than the display since I cannot dial/get key tones, etc. I would think if only the screen were out I would be able to dial a number and make calls. But I get nothing. I wonder why DM and BBASK will load things as normal and there are no errors at all if there is something serious wrong.
It seems that the hardware on the device is messed up and it as a last retort open up the device, see if any connectors or pins are bent, or touching the mainboard and fix it back up again. Else it's time for a new device.
Yep. It is strange. I can receive calls. But the screen does not work and the keypad does not work. But I do have a new trackball! Lol.
Took it apart again and everything looks perfect. So I cannot see where things went awry.
Good news is I went to the VZW store and grabbed a Curve 3G to hold me a few months until the 9900 drops and gets "reviewed".
Interesting thing about the Curve 9330 (3G). Playbook browses faster in bridge mode than when paired to my Tour. Not sure if the diffence is OS5 vs. OS6 or more memory on the phone, or both. Only downside is the Curve has a pitiful camera and no flash. Oh well. It'll get me by.
