Different carriers have different PRLs from other carriers.
Typically, within a particular carrier, there will be a PRL for advanced devices (including BlackBerry devices and other smartphones) and a different one for regular phones.
Since a PRL is basically a roaming list, it is inherently different from carrier to carrier. Sprint roams on Verizon, so if Verizon used their PRL they would be telling the phone to roam on their own towers..
I wonder if PRL within a carrier can also vary by region. I assume Dave updated his before posting earlier today. I just updated mine in Cocoa Beach, FL, to 51893.

Jeff,, I did update right before posting and just did 228 now. I think your right. My prl remained the same @ 51866
It's *228, not 228. That could be why you are messing up.
Actually its *22899 to update the roaming directly. *228 gives you a menu and you have to hit 1 to program, 2 to update and 3 for something else. I did not mess up,,, Jeff seems to be right about prls being regionalized by area.
