Can you go back to your previous OS, and if so how? I'm also on Verizon in case that makes any difference.

If you installed the new OS using your PC and the App Loader, all you have to do is uninstall your OS from your PC, reinstall the previous OS, and run the App Loader. The App Loader will detect the OS change and ask you if you want to downgrade.
