Before upgrading to the Tour, I had a Curve. With the Curve, I was able to type "mypin" into a text message, followed by a space, and my PIN would automatically appear so I could easily send it to people. I just tried that with my new Tour and it doesn't work. Any idea what's going on?

it still works, but it has to be in the subject of a sms message, i don't know if it works anywhere else.

when i type mypin it works

go into auto text and make sure there is a entry that looks like this

mypin (pin:%P)

if it doesn't exist make it..

Also, make sure that you are in the "English" dictionary. Sometimes people accidentally switch to an alternate language that causes the autotext features to not work.

also keep in mind people the auto text thing shows you many shortcuts..

ie anything with a hash code % and such is short for something like you can type

when i transfered devices it took all of my autotext shortcuts and carried them over to my Tour from my Curve. there is no reason this should not work

very weird....the mypin entry is listed in my auto/text, but it still does not work...no matter where i am trying to type it in. i also am currently running the english dictionary, like you said above. what gives?? i dont get it...

hold alt+right shift+H....it will give you a lot of information, including your PIN

yes i read the replies. if you would read MY reply before, i said i tried all of that and nothing worked.

i know how to find my pin, but i would like an easier way of inserting it into text messages than copy and paste. the "mypin" shortcut is great, and i dont understand why it is not working for me.

Hitting ENTER also works.

PS your device already has 2 other similar Shortcuts pre-entered: mynumber and myver. Try 'em out!
