No data on Verizon Tour
- My Verizon Tour came yesterday morning, was able to activate it so the phone would work and sync it to Outlook, but it wont connect to the data network. Still couldn't get it to connect to data even after an hour on the phone with Verizon Wireless. They told me to take it to a store, so I did, 2 hours later and a new device, they told me to wait it out, the lowercase 1xev would change to uppercase 1XEV and that would signify that the phone was receiving data. They told me that it could take 24 to 48 hours to resolve because of so many new activations. Today I still don't have 1XEV, only 1xev.

Since there are so many new BBer's the carrier's back-log is pretty lengthy.07-15-09 12:40 PMLike 0 -

- I had the problem last night activating my Tour and had it last week with my Storm. What works for me is to power off the radio then take the battery out of the new phone. I then activated an older phone on my line online, waited 30 minutes then powered it on and activated it via *228 option 1. That had my old phone back activated. I logged out of MyVerizon for 30 minutes. I took the old phone battery out then logged into MyVerizon and activated the Tour, then waited 30 minutes with it still no battery, then after the 30 minutes I put battery in and then turned on the radios did the *228 option 1 and then did a battery pull and when it came back up the 1EXEV was there. I did that last night for the Tour and also a week ago when I re-activated my Storm coming from the Treo 700wx. I think its a quirk when switching phones that its not picking up the data, or not. I dunno but switching phones again seems to work.07-15-09 12:50 PMLike 0
- One thing to try is to go to Advanced Options > Host Routing Table, hit the menu button and select Register Now. I had to do that after leaving Best Buy, I guess they forgot to. That should register you with RIM and you should be getting data after receiving the confirmation email.

You might also be able to do it through Verizon's BIS site (I've never tried) just google it and it's the first result, it's worth a try.

What a bummer.07-15-09 01:45 PMLike 0 - I had this issue and was already at the Verizon store getting my contacts transferred from my Voyager to my Tour. The tech just did a battery pull for me and VOILA! I started to receive data.07-15-09 02:24 PMLike 0
- I don't think it is a device error but a Service error.
When I was in the store getting my Tour, mine worked just fine right out of the box but the guy standing next to me picking up his tour had trouble getting service in the store. The CS rep told him that because of all the activations the server was getting hammered and it may take a while for him to get data.
He was on an enterprise server and I am on BIS so I wonder if that makes a difference. I was also switching from another BlackBerry and he wasn't. Since you were coming from a Treo, it makes me wonder if that has something to do with it also.07-15-09 02:42 PMLike 0 - A friend called me over to help her set up her new set up her new tour, she said the browser working. I got over there and sure enough she had no data, 1xev only. I did *228 option 1 then after that was complete I did a battery pull, and after it restarted she had 1XEV. It did restart one time randomly with App Error 523, but since then she has not had an issue.07-15-09 02:44 PMLike 0
- I am having the same problem. I constantly have a 1xev or a 1x level of service. If I do a *228 and a battery pull I can get a 1X which lasts about a half hour before it returns to the non-data service.
I don't understand why this keeps happening but it is very annoying, especially since I am now missing emails due to not being able to get data, and Visual Voicemail becomes useless.
I have tried the ##000000 option, zero'd out what was mentioned, restarted, and gone back in and it hasn't helped. I have turned off the global feature, and that has not helped. I have resent the register thing and that has not helped.
I am also coming from 2 other blackberrys so I know there is service where I am (middle of Boston).
Any help is greatly appreciated.07-15-09 02:58 PMLike 0
