Course you're not wrong to be annoyed. (You haven't even reached the tip of the iceberg of the potential annoyance at RIM over the buggy phone).
From what I've been told by the repair dept, they can't easily swap trackballs on the Tour... this is why they are swapping the whole phone every 7 days when the ball acts up.
You are exactly right, the first replacement I had I spoke with the manager at Verizon and he told me that the trackball is built in the whole top keyboard unlike previous ones where you can just pop it out. So in exchange they would have to replace it with a brand new one and not just the trackball, stupid on RIM's part, better for us, possibly???
