Hi there,
I just wanted to let anyone who cares that I changed the trackball in my tour this weekend and man what a difference. Smooth as butter. And pretty easy to replace.

Good to hear....I have been debating replacing mine for awhile now...somedays it's good somedays it fights me....I have just been afraid that the new one might be worse!
Why not post where you got it and how you did it to help others thinking about doing the same thing.
here is a video how to change 9630 lcd:

I didn't elaborate because there are a lot of posts on here already about this. I just wanted to give someone who is thinking about doing it some confidence.
Good job and thank you for the explanation.
Good Deal. Thanks. Mine's been getting a little flaky.

When I took my phone into Verizon to have the trackball changed I was told that the trackball couldn't be changed on the Tour. They said the trackball was "different" on the Tour and unlike older phones. So instead they switched out my phone! Kind of interesting, given this discussion on changing your trackball! I did attempt to change my trackball on my previous phone and it didn't turn out well. Verizon has been happy to change out my trackball or provide me with a new phone, as was apparently necessary with my Tour so I'll let them! :)
I recently called Verizon to complain about the Track Ball and they told me to take it to my local Verizon Store and they would change the Track Ball....I have yet to do so but the track ball has been a pain in the **** lately so I may be making that trip soon!
Just curious micheleb4, did they give you a refurb Tour or what did they give you?
Here's what I recently ordered:
BlackBerry Trackball - White/White - 10 pack New OEM Original*
$14.95
Black ones are about $3.
Here's where I got them:

Not sure if I can post the link but I'll try.
Hope this works, hope this helps... Ed

Thank you for the information because mine hangs up from time to time. was thinking of cleaning it really good and if that does not help then I will replace it. Thanks again for the information
I'm actually looking at digging out my old Tour and using it for work, but I need to take apart the phone to clean the trackball (why I switched away from it in the first place). These videos will definitely help!
I changed my trackball too. Ordered from cellfonparts. Also ordered the little tool kit and new housing. I did not change all the housing because of the little antenae . I just don't have the dexterity to do that . So I have pink keypad, white trackball, pink top plate, pink battery door. I followed U Tube also. I had to call verizon and re register my BB after I got it put together. Also I had to take apart a few times to get everything working right. Like the side buttons. I guess practice makes perfect?? Anyway my tour was off warranty and I would advise anyone with trackball issues and are still in the one year warranty to just take it in and they will give you a new Bold. That is what happened to my daughter. Course now she is having issues with the Bold freezing up on her. That's all I know. I hope this helps people.
Oh ya I forgot to say that my tour is working very well now. No trackball issues and I'm the only one I know with a pink and black tour.
Yeah, don't take it apart unless you're off the warranty, otherwise its easier just to get a new berry. I bought a purple trackball from ebay for 2.50$ and it took about 2 weeks to ship in from china. The tools were 2 dollars on ebay shipping from brooklyn so it was very cheap. After installation the ball moved much more smoothly, it's such a difference. Originally, i had a clicking issue with the trackball as well, where the trackball didn't actually click IN, but it still selected etc, so i removed the 'trackball dome' (the sticker UNDER the trackball on the actual motherboard) from an old blackberry and replaced the old one on my tour. TOTALLY worth taking apart my phone. The trackball moves so much better, its the difference between night and day. However DO NOT ATTEMPT unless your warranty is up. *****
My Tour was built so well I hesitated taking it apart. But trackball issues had me dismantling it. Took the ball from my discarded 9000, replaced the white bracket with the silver one on the Tour, Voila!
Better material on the 9000 ball. Much better now.

I believe it was a refurbished phone. I didnt realize this until I got home. It's been ok so far though.
