Frankly, I didn't even know about this option until I read through the "Post your Tour problems" here thread.

One poster mentioned his phone was lagging in certain areas and improved once he changed it from Global to 1XEV.

Mine was set on Global. What are others choosing with this option? Global or 1XEV?

Is the Global option only if you are traveling abroad?

While here in the states - 1XEV is the proper setting.

Setting 1XEV only if in the states will help your battery life as well.

Besides battery life, does it affect reception or call quality leaving it on Global and if setting it to 1XEV is it better to take out sim card?

i picked the 1XEV because everyone said it helps with battery life. when i changed it nothing else on the phone changed so i assumed it works.

Only leave it on Global here in the states if you put in a second carrier's SIM card (and are unlocked) - if you don't have a native signal the GSM carrier may.
