Running .230, I know this is WAY above average! What gives!? How do I reduce this massive boot time? The loading bar always gets around 1/4 and freezes for like 5 minutes.

84MB free app memory, 1GB memory card with basically nothing on it, and BIS. I also just did a wipe before this install.

Might want to try loading the latest Official OS for your phone.
Then use Shrink-a-OS to get rid of the stuff you don't need or won't use.
Then upload it to your phone.

A lot of the apps that start on bootup in the background are what slow the OS down and cause loooong boot times. It's just like a PC.
If you get rid of the crap apps in your "Startup" routine, the machine boots faster.

For some reason, the first reboot after a complete wipe and install takes longer. I am guessing because it needs to set up some configuration files and perhaps extract something, download information from the firmware, I don't know, but the first boot after installing 230 for me took many minutes. Now, it takes much, much less, closer to 2.5 minutes and I have lots of apps and a half full 16 gig memory card. It is to the point where I do not dread rebooting the phone like I used to. I do it multiple times per day now it seems and I do not want to throw the phone through the window to get an insurance claim and a different phone anymore.

I will admit that it has gotten slightly better. I just did a battery pull and got 9 minutes. In retrospect, I've probably actually fully rebooted under 10 times since my last OS install, so maybe I should just give it time.

mine doesnt take that long- maybe 3-4 minutes, but i was on the phone with a verizon tech guy for some reason and while he had me doing a battery pull he was making small talk and happened to say that the tour had the longest reboot time of any blackberry in verizons line up. just something to make you go hmmmmmm.

Mine takes exactly ten minutes to boot.

I'm running v4.7.1.40, which is what came on my Tour. I'm itching to update but I'm still not sure which to update to. I keep waiting for 5.0 but I'm getting old doing it.

Still too long if you ask me. On .40 and now .57
I have never hit the 4 min mark. But at least you got it down quite a bit.

84MB sounds like a lot free with 100+ apps installed!
