    To keep it simple... 1X-EV is CDMA (Verizon, Sprint, Telus, Bell)'s version of GSM's (all other network's pretty much) 3G.

    So if it says 1X-EV it is 3G.. if it just says 1X your not.

    Yes if you have 1XEV in capital letters then you have full 3G.

    1xev means you can make calls and sms but you're NOT connected to the Blackberry internet Service. 1XEV means you are.
