Would there be any reason, if over seas, for a BB Tour on the Verizon network to not be able to download any applications such as Trillian - IM, Astra, Windows Live, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, MySpace, AIM, Email, and more! or yahoo messenger from blackberrys website? My girl is in another country but says she cannot download either of them. She says it "fails". She has unlimited data/email support overseas and has no problem uploading pictures or sending emails or going on the internet. But "can't download apps". Any ideas?
Did she unlock her Tour and use a prepaid BlackBerry data plan from an overseas carrier? Perhaps those apps are not supported by the carrier or in the country she is visiting. Some apps only work in the US.
The device probably needs to be unlocked to use the GSM side even on the Global Data Plan (not 100% sure on this one)?
Is she in an area covered by data?
Is she getting a 1XEV signal?
Did she switch her network technology to GSM?
As noted above, have you checked with Trillian or Yahoo to be sure that it is supported in the country in which she is located?
