So prior to upgrading to my Tour I had an LG Dare. On the Dare, many people would complain about their battery life, but there was a simple fix. What would happen is that people would save a picture to their memory card and then set it as their background. What the phone would do, in order to use that background image, is constantly read off of the sd card and drain the battery. Needless to say, I realized yesterday that I had been making the same mistake, however, this time on my Tour. I swapped the desktop image to the phone's memory, and what do you know, DRASTICALLY improved battery life. Give it a shot. Tell me what you think!
As mentioned above, the image is copied to the main memory from the SD card. Removing the SD card does not remove the wallpaper. Not sure on Soft reset.
However, the Dare is different. Remove the SD card, you lose the wallpaper instantly.
Sadly I don't think this will make much difference as people have noted the image doesn't disappear (like on LG phones) when you remove the memory card. Meaning the image gets copied to main memory on the device. But it's worth a shot, I'm trying it now we'll see how it does.
I think why my battery doesn't last as long is because of the fluctuating signals. At work with 2-3 bars fluctuating to 0 (100-110db) constantly fluctuating as well as the 1X-1x thing drains more juice. Battery estimate to drain 10 hours.
At home 4-5 bars 80-90db constantly fluctuating never to 0 bars though and 1XEV is constant = drains less juice. Battery estimate to drain is 48 hours.
My background is from a pic from my memory card. Its been like that since day 1 and i have great battery life. Actually one of the best batteries out of any smart phone i have owned.
It's worth a try, but doubt it.
