When you record a video, it doesn't seem to get sorted in any particular order- or at lease one I can figure out, unlike the pictures that we take.

Can someone explain to me how the Tour- or any BlackBerry device, sorts videos when left at their default time stamped name?

from what i've noticed it saves them by dates with the most current at the top unless of course you save them a certain name of your choosing...at least mine does. the date is with the year first, then month, and then day. example 20091108

i thought it sorted that way too, but when you record two files on the same day, they never seem to be together.

and i have files like this:
    I have some 0002-20091014-1944
    then i'll have 0003-20081205-1956
    then 0003-2009090309-2010

    doesnt make any sense

From what I gather, the first group of numbers is the serial of the video that was taken. The second group is the date [in military format] and the third is the time [in military format]. I think MBM7881 might be on to something. It appears that your 2nd entry [0003-20081205-1956] is from another device (especially since you couldn't have owned the Tour on that date) and the Tour is cataloging the videos based on the first group of numbers. Since there are two sets of [0003], the next parameter to consider would be the year within the date field, i.e., [2008] comes before [2009].

Based on the fact that the videos are serialized, they should be cataloged in succession regardless of when they were taken. I think if you remove [or rename] all videos taken from another device, you'll see order within your files.

Very good response!!! You may be absolutely right on this.. i had the Storm before this phone and i transferred everything over to this one.

I believe you just solved this mystery.

    Thanks for your time!

What don't you like about it?

As the above poster mentioned - vids are sorted by date/time...that is correct. Only issue I have w/videos, is that unlike pictures and music, the folders don't display anywhere in the main screen...idk why they left this out. May be an oversight, idk.

What would you recommend a better sorting method be?
