I'm new to Crackberry and Blackberries in general!
My dad just gone one today and I'm helping him set it up.
I was wondering if someone could tell me why in the Verizon store the signal type said 3G at the top and now (in the same area, yes..) my dad's Blackberry says 1x-EV?
Is there a difference between these? Should I even be concerned about it?
Thank you in advance!
(Also, if you could give me help with a side issue:
when he gets calls, the phone only rings one time and I can't figure out how to change that. How would I go about doing that?)
Actually the only thing i can think of is : CDMA = 1XEV
GSM= 3G
Basically the same thing in terms of speed except on GSM 3G you can get voice and data simultaneously while you cant with 1XEV. As for why Verizon says 3G instead of 1XEV .... i think its only because 3G sounds better lol.

I believe that new phone coming out from VZW will say 3G. I know the droid, Erids and I think storm 2 now have this. Maybe even storm 1 with 5.0.
